Using animation to engage the audience.

A huge part of SeaLife’s target demographic are children. Where there was a more generous budget – this was a national campaign after all – so was a prime opportunity to employ a more detailed, hand-drawn illustrative style.

DEVELOPING THE SCRIPT

The script was a very important consideration with this video project, as narration was to be performed by a child.

In order to better connect with our target audience, a child voice artist was used, this communicated well with other children and families.

Sea Creatures that Dragonfly's animators created for sea life

Our animations rarely get to work with such a wonderful brief; illustrating clownfish, seahorses, jellyfish and seagulls. The team used traditional techniques and a colour palette to emulate illustration in children’s books.

DESIGNING THE CHARACTERS

Animated characters were a necessary asset, in order to appeal to our intended audience. Character design was carefully considered to be relatable and to bring about a correct emotional response.

Bold Animated Visuals

A bold visual style was adopted, which emulated the familiar look and feel of children storybook illustration. This was proven to connect well with the target audience of children and their parents.
